Glass Bead Making Classes New For 2005!
Visit our new second studio in Baltimore, MD
The Sachs Design School of Glass offers comprehensive classes for beginning and intermediate students. Students will learn how to make and decorate glass beads using a hot glass technique called Lampworking. The type of glass used is an Italian made soda lime (soft) glass most commonly called Moretti or Efettre. Students will learn how to attain a good base bead shape to start. Once students have learned the basic shapes, methods, and decorating techniques they will be introduced to more complicated techniques in the intermediate coursed which consist of two working days. Some of the techniques taught include pulling stringers, stringer dots, drawing, layering colors, surface manipulation, air trapping, feathering, murrini, surface manipulation, encasing, and much more.
All classes are taught as "hands on" workshops, each student will be provided with all materials including: Didymium safety glasses, tools, torch and glass.
Handicapped Accessible at Jersey City studio. We are currently building a ramp at the Baltimore Location. Estimated time of completion Jan 2006.
At this point we are only taking reservations for private lessons at both locations. Please inquire about hosting a party in your studio or school, this would be a great idea for birthday parties or special events.
